TLDR

Connect your monitor to the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 graphics card, not the motherboard video ports. Plug in power, keyboard, mouse, and Wi-Fi adapter, then follow the Windows 11 Pro setup prompts. For best speed, install programs on the 240 GB SSD and use the 1 TB hard drive for photos, downloads, and large files.

Beginner explanation: what these specs mean

The processor is the main brain of the computer. RAM helps the PC keep multiple programs open at once. The SSD makes Windows and apps load faster, while the larger hard drive gives you more space for files. The graphics card handles video output and light graphics work.

Initial Setup

  1. Place the PC on a flat, ventilated surface.
  2. Connect your monitor cable to the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 graphics card on the lower rear expansion slot area.
  3. Connect your keyboard and mouse to USB ports.
  4. Plug in the included USB Wi-Fi adapter if you plan to use wireless internet.
  5. Connect the power cable and turn the rear power switch on if present.
  6. Press the front power button.
  7. Follow the Windows 11 Pro setup screens.

Important: If your monitor says “No Signal,” check that the display cable is connected to the graphics card, not the motherboard video output.

Detailed Port Overview

Because this is a custom/refurbished desktop, the exact port layout may vary slightly, but most units include a mix of USB, audio, Ethernet, display, power, and graphics card ports.

Desktop PC rear input output ports overview

Common rear ports

  • USB ports: For keyboard, mouse, flash drives, printers, webcams, and Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Ethernet: For wired internet.
  • Audio jacks: For speakers, headphones, and microphones.
  • Graphics card video ports: Use these for your monitor.
  • Power connector: Connects the PC to wall power.
Deeper dive: why the graphics card ports matter

This PC includes a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450. On many desktops with a dedicated graphics card, the motherboard video ports may be disabled or may not be the intended output. For the best chance of getting video immediately, connect your display directly to the graphics card.

SSD and Hard Drive Usage

This PC includes two storage drives: a faster 240 GB Kingston SSD and a larger 1 TB Seagate hard drive.

  • Use the SSD for Windows, browsers, office apps, and frequently used programs.
  • Use the 1 TB hard drive for photos, videos, downloads, documents, backups, and less-used files.
  • Keep free SSD space available so Windows has room for updates and temporary files.

Common Issues

No display or black screen

  • Confirm the monitor is powered on.
  • Confirm the display cable is plugged into the graphics card.
  • Try another display cable or monitor input.
  • Reseat the graphics card only if you are comfortable opening the PC.

No Wi-Fi

  • Make sure the USB Wi-Fi adapter is plugged in.
  • Try a different USB port.
  • Restart Windows.
  • Use Ethernet temporarily if Windows needs to install a driver.

DVD drive will not open

  • Confirm the PC is powered on.
  • Press the physical eject button on the DVD drive.
  • In Windows, open File Explorer, right-click the DVD drive, and choose Eject.

Troubleshooting Checklist

  1. Shut the PC down completely.
  2. Disconnect power for 30 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cable firmly.
  4. Check monitor, keyboard, mouse, and Wi-Fi adapter connections.
  5. Boot again and watch for fan movement, lights, or beeps.
  6. If Windows loads slowly, let updates finish before restarting again.
  7. If the issue continues, contact Rytech PNW support.
A refurbished/custom-built PC may show minor cosmetic wear, such as small case scratches. Cosmetic marks do not usually affect performance.

Factory Instructions and Manuals

This is a custom/refurbished Cougar desktop configuration, so there may not be one single factory booklet that matches the entire PC exactly. For component-specific help, look up the exact part name printed on the component, such as the motherboard model, graphics card model, or Wi-Fi adapter model.

Beginner explanation: why there may not be one factory manual

Large-brand desktops usually have one official manual. Custom PCs are assembled from separate parts, so the case, motherboard, graphics card, storage drives, and Wi-Fi adapter may each have their own separate documentation.
